to check a download from Puppy:

* open a console where the 
iso is (right click / xterm here)
* type in md5sum pu 
then press tab and the rest will be filled
like so:

# md5sum puppy-1.0.8r1-mozilla.iso

* press enter and wait
this combination should appear:
8d294e1f060b898d371704223a950387
anything else and you have 
a faulty download do not burn onto CD


How to Burn an ISO from Windows
===============================

Burncdcc is small ... about 50k to download
doesn't need installing ... just unzip and run
To uninstall, just delete

Burncdcc only burns cd's, so you can't burn a data cd by mistake
When you burn the cd, it can test your cd for burn errors

It does close the CD-R, so you can't burn more files 
on the cd later. If you want to be able to burn more sessions, you may want to use Nero.

# Unzip Burncdcc and click the program to run
# Click the Browse button to find and select the iso file you want to burn
# Always check the Read Verify box, so it will check for burn errors

# I like to burn ISO's no faster than 16x, but it depends a lot on what burner 
you have and what discs you are using
# Click the start button to burn your cd

Note: Some users have reported that Puppy 
should be burnt no faster than x2 to be absolutely sure of a reliable burn
